David Lee is an accomplished technology executive with over two decades of experience in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and fintech innovation. As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Stripe, David leads the company’s global engineering teams in building scalable, secure payment infrastructure that powers millions of businesses worldwide.
In his role at Stripe, David is responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of the company’s technical vision and strategy. He focuses on advancing Stripe’s product offerings, enhancing the reliability and performance of its infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with evolving global financial regulations. David’s leadership has been instrumental in expanding Stripe’s services into new markets and developing innovative solutions that drive digital transformation in the financial sector.
Before joining Stripe, David served as the Vice President of Engineering at Google Cloud, where he led teams responsible for the development of cloud storage and data management products. During his tenure, he played a key role in the growth of Google Cloud’s enterprise customer base, particularly in the financial services and retail sectors. Earlier in his career, David was a founding engineer at a successful tech startup, which was later acquired by a Fortune 500 company, and he also held engineering leadership roles at Amazon Web Services.
David holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
